Plantstagram made me fall in love with this plant. I love photos of this plant trailing up walls and vining in various places. It’s just so pretty! When I got mine, it had maybe 4-5 leaves on it. It grew pretty quickly when I added in a moss pole, but that progress was soon stifled when Waffles struck in the middle of the night, and knocked this guy over not once, but twice.
I was so sure it was going to die. A few months passed, and although it didn’t die, it certainly wasn’t growing. Then, about 2 months ago, I noticed a new leaf finally starting to pop out. After that, it was growing a new leaf bi-weekly, and it’s now one of my healthiest and fastest growing plants. And I appreciate it all the more because I know this plant went through some shit and is thriving regardless. Truly an inspiration!
It’s not hard to tell why this is one of the most popular houseplants. They are cheap, easy to take care of, and grow relatively fast in the right conditions. Plus they look stunning, and add a lot of ambiance to any space they’re in. I’ve had mine for probably 6 months now, and it’s nearly doubled in size in that time, especially once I added in some moss poles. She also gets great light and is right next to the humidifier.
My love for this plant is almost exclusively sentimental. I gave this golden pothos to my grandmother about 2 years ago as a mother’s day gift. It only had a few leaves at the time, and I planted it in a hand-made ceramic pot that my best friend’s partner made. When she passed away last year, it was one of the only items I requested of hers. It hadn’t been repotted since I gave it to her, despite quadrupling in size to nearly 3 feet in length.
My grandfather drove it to me a few months after she passed. I repotted it, chopped it into smaller portions, and added the cuttings to a larger pot with a pole. While some of the leaves died from the 21 hour car ride, it’s mostly healthy now, and growing fairly steadily. Every time I see a new leaf, I smile in remembrance of my grandmother.
This plant was a birthday gift to me from a friend in 2020. It was one of 4 plants that made the journey with us from KS to VA, and it’s been growing like crazy here. I had her in a macrame hanger on the porch for the longest time, and she was truly loving all of the Virginia summer sunshine and humidity. I can’t wait to see what she looks like in another year!
Like my raphidophora, this plant has been through some rough times in the last 6+ months since I got him. He, too, was a victim of Waffles’ night time tirades, and was knocked over several times (that’s why some of the rips on the edges are more pronounced than they should be). Nevertheless, after a few months of stagnation, he’s finally pushing out a whole new leaf I’ve always wanted a huge BOP, but I refuse to shell out $100+ for a big one, so fingers crossed that he keeps growing!
