About Me

Hi there, and thanks for perusing my blog! I’m Emily, and I love reading books, bullet journaling, houseplants, and all things cozy.

Emily is sitting inside the egg chair in her reading nook reading the book The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune. Her shiba inu is snuggled on the chair with her while her cat Olaf rest on the footrest.

I’m 28 years old and currently reside in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, although I was born and raised in Kansas. I’m married to my wonderful partner, Dakota, and we have three pets: Piper, our Shiba Inu, and our kitties Olaf and Waffles.

Piper, a cream white shiba inu, is sitting on an egg chair in a cozy little reading nook. There is a side table with a lamp and a stack of books on it, and a yellow foot stool.

I have always loved reading; my family members love telling stories about how I always had a book with me in my childhood, and how I would sleep next to stack of books. I’ve carried that affinity with me my whole life, and I love being able to share that passion for reading with others.

At the end of 2017, I discovered bullet journaling and was captivated by the idea of creating your own planner from scratch. Although I didn’t think I would stick with the hobby, I fell in love with the flexible functionality of the system and the creative outlet it provided. But here I am now, over 4 years and 5 journals later! Bullet journaling was also the gateway into my love for hand-lettering in calligraphy.

I began cultivating my houseplant addiction in early 2021 when my partner and I first moved to Virginia. I learned all kinds of information about different plants and how to care for them (thanks PlantTok), and I just love the aesthetic of them, so I talk about those sometimes too!

I’ve realized after a few months on Bookstagram that sometimes the caption lengths are NOT long enough for all of the thoughts and feelings I have about these things, so I’m excited to have an unconstrained space to write and share my content. I would love to hear back from you guys and chat about your favorite books, animals, plants, journaling, or anything in between. Thanks for stopping by my space!
